Update On Life

Hey guys! How is summer going? Full of reading, I hope!

First, I would like to apologize for my absence in the blogosphere. I am really really sorry if it seems like I’ve been neglecting my blog or fellow bloggers. That was never my intention, just as it was never my intention to go sorta AWOL for 8 days. In my defense I do have reasons for my lack of posting. School reopened on Monday (it’s Saturday here right now) and I admit things have been slow there, but I’ve been busy studying for exams, one in August and another in November. 😦 Personally, I have been dealing with some… stuff.

With all that going on I didn’t get a chance to blog. However, I did check in occasionally to like some posts and comment here and there. Hope that redeems me, somewhat. 🙂

Now, moving on to more cheerful things…

I finished reading Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo at exactly 1 hour past midnight. Yup, I checked immediately after reading and it was 1.00 AM sharp. That is not even the point; the point is that I need help dealing with the aftereffects of the book. I NEED HELP. I need somebody to talk to about the Darkling and Mal and Alina and the cover and the title and the author and the letter Mal wrote. This is help only readers and fangirls a.k.a. you lovely people can provide. So if you’ve read this book, do me a favor would you? Comment and chat with me about the spectacular book that is Shadow and Bone. Do not leave me hanging here. Please.

The funny thing is that I wouldn’t have read Shadow and Bone as soon as I did and I wouldn’t be screaming S.O.S. if not for this book:

I was stoked to read this book, the blurb pulled me in and it just screamed “ME!”. What I did not expect was to be bored out of my mind reading it. 30 pages in I was done. Done, I say. Now, before you go judging me for being so quick to give up on a book, I can explain. Really, I can. What makes a book is probably the plot; the characters. What makes a good reading experience is probably the writing. For a truly enjoyable reading experience you have to click with the author’s style of writing. And I did not click with this author’s writing at all. It was poetic and some find it interesting, but I didn’t. I just found it draggy and difficult to get into. But I’ve read some good reviews on Goodreads, so read it if you want, you might even love it. Some books are just not for me I guess.

Thankfully, I pulled myself out of Taken by Storm and plunged into the World of Grisha soon enough and avoided a horrible reading slump. And now I’m stuck with all these FEELS.

Also, I recently finished these books:

15713917

18190048

18190057

16059492

Expect reviews of those books soon!

I am currently reading:

18525661

Back to my blog. I hate saying this but I have to. Unfortunately, I will not be able to post on weekdays for the next few months until December. So, what I’ll do is write up some posts during the weekends and have them scheduled for the weekdays. I will be checking in everyday so you can leave comments and I’ll get to them as soon as I get home. 🙂 I look forward to hearing from you guys! Hugs ❤

And guys?

I still need help with Shadow and Bone…

Hi Tasha! I know EXACTLY how you feel – I LOVED the whole Grisha series. But it definitely knocks you for a loop. I read the first book on a train ride (Toronto-Ottawa) and went and found the second to read on the way home. Such a fantastic world, but the darkness in it is disturbing, isn’t it? Just in the way it unsettle you. Anyway, I am sure I am no help with your feelings, just wanted to let you know, I’ve been there! 🙂

Exactly! It’s like you can’t help but read the next book. It was dark but I must say it had me even more intrigued. It’s an amazing world Bardugo has created. It’s a big help knowing that I’m not the only one, so thank you! 🙂

Hey Tash! Grisha Trilogy is a fantastic series my experience with this book was both exciting and torturous with all the waiting for the next one to be released at least you wouldn’t have that problem 🙂
    Happy Reading!

Yes, the waiting always kills, but I think it adds this extra thrill of anticipation. On the other hand, I can definitely do without the added agony. One problem down, hundreds to go. 😉
Thanks for stopping by and I’m glad you enjoyed the trilogy.
      You too! 🙂

OH MY GOSH. TASHA. TALK TO ME. I just finished Shadow and Bone the other day and just OMGOMGOMG. The Darkling. Why? D:
And I know! I cannot believe I’ve been missing out on this trilogy all this time; I’m so glad I read it and what a coincidence that you recently have too!

Oh my Gods, Summer!! You are a lifesaver! Oh lord, the Darkling. The goddamn freaking Darkling. *swoons* *falls to the ground* *dies* *comes back to life*
He was like “Make me your villain.”. I was like “CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. JUST MAKE ME YOUR DARK GIRLFRIEND IN RETURN.” THE BEST VILLAIN EVER. I NEED THE DARKLING IN MY LIFE. Why do I always fall for the villain?!
I think I know where this trilogy is heading and I DON’T THINK I LIKE IT. I think I’m going to need tissues for the last book.
YES, I feel so umm… dumb for not reading this sooner… Coincidence indeed!
SUMMER. Please tell me I’m not the only one dying and swooning over the Darkling. TELL ME.
      *dies*
      Summer? Resurrect me. Please?

NO. I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE!
I read a couple of reviews that critiqued the Darkling. And readers have mentioned how he wasn’t convincing and boring? And I’m not sure if I feel this way because I just recently finished reading this and I have an extreme case of a book hangover BUT LIKE WHAT. HOW CAN ONE NOT LIKE HIM?? HE ENSNARED US (and poor Alina) AND THEN JUST OMG. I think I died inside a little bit by the end of Shadow and Bone. My emotions. (I may not be making any sense, it’s like 1:30 am right now where I live, haha.)
AND I NEED TO READ SIEGE AND STORM! (When I finish the novella I’m reading, I will definitely start it. And there will be a whole other wave of crazy emotions. AND YES. I foresee many tissues as well. TT.TT I AM NOT READY.)
…you may be the one that needs to resurrect me. (It’s okay, we can take turns making sure the other is alive by the end of this three book journey. Sigh. We got this.)

Thank Gods. That is reassuring, I think…
I KNOW. Like, what is wrong with people?! I found him quite convincing and uhh… hot in this dark, devilish way…
Exactly. He sorta captured us and held us hostage the entire time. You can probably guess how much I fought back. Yeah, I definitely held my own against him…
My treacherous heart is not even fully with me. It.. it… left me… for him.. Oh well, the heart wants what it wants. *shrugs*
Rest assured, you make perfect sense, Summer. I’d say sorry for keeping you up but I’m REALLY NOT. *cue evil laugh* HAHAHAHA
Don’t mind me, I’m just getting into character as the Darkling’s girlfriend.
          AAAND… I clearly need HELP.
I’ve only read like 3% of it and I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE DARKLING’S APPEARANCE. Oh yes, it’ll be like a tsunami of emotions. WAVE AFTER WAVE.
It’s a good thing I keep tissues all over my house. WILL WE EVER BE READY?
Great idea. I’m counting on you to keep me alive throughout this journey. I can’t guarantee that we’ll make out with our sanity, though. WE CAN DO IT.

Hello Tasha! G’luck with school & exams. I actually got Shadow and Bone as a secret Santa present from a friend and I’m yet to read it! I hope I’ll enjoy it as much as you have. [:

I feel like this is just a slow month for blogging! Don’t feel bad for taking a break when you need one! I’ve never read Shadow and Bone, but I’ve definitely heard of it. Will you be reviewing that and Throne of Glass?
