Mi Books Es Mi Books

Hello bookworms! Just a short post for today, I hope. I woke up today and felt inspired to write this post, so here I am.

How are you like with your books? Mama bear protective or “mi books es su books”? I for one am insanely protective over my books, only a select few people are allowed to hold my books, needless to say borrow them.

Here are a couple of scenarios to emphasize my point…

  • When guests go on THE house tour

We all know what I’m talking about, they always ask for the house tour. To which I say, “this isn’t a museum.” I kid, I don’t actually say that, but I sure as hell want to. My actual problem is when they reach my room and see the books I have and go

Which is great, really. I’m sometimes impressed by my collection and organizational skills too. But the point is they’re my books, you don’t just pick them up and try to figure out the edition or admire the condition. You want to know the edition? Ask me. You’re curious about the condition it’s in? Ask me, it’s probably a 10/10. Why in the Angel’s name do you feel the urge to pick them up yourself without my permission? ASK ME.

Unless you’re a book lover like me, then yeah, you probably know how to treat a book or respect that I have my reservations.

It’s no wonder I tag along for these house tours. Even if I don’t, I usually tell my mom to advise them not to touch my books.

  • When I’m at school

I sometimes have a novel on my desk in class and people that walk by feel this need to pick it up and go, “huh. Nice cover.”

Great observation skills, right there. And then the person just drops the book on my desk and walks away. Because it does have a nice cover, I go

Inside I’m like:

To round it up I’m basically Kuzco

There are times where I feel like breaking out in song too.

So yeah, I only trust some of my friends and my mom to hold my books and not damage them or you know, open it and break the spine. Suffice it to say, if I trust you with my books, I trust you with my life.

That’s my level of protectiveness over my books, now I want to know yours. Do you feel comfortable letting others hold it or worst… borrow it? I know there are others like me out there but for each one of us, mama bears, there’s a happy sharer willing to “share the books, share the love” which I deeply admire, because I will never by any means be one of them. So tell me, yay to sharing or nay?

I also want to thank you people for tagging me in book tags and nominating me for awards. I haven’t been able to get back to all of them yet but it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Oh and what do you think about this sign guys?

Have a bookish day. Hugs. ❤

Great topic!! I’m a little bit protective of my books, too, but I don’t think I am as much as you are, haha! 🙂 I would allow people to touch my books, but surely I won’t ever let someone into my room ALONE with my books, no, can’t do!! I’m a little bit more cautious when it comes to letting other people borrowing my books. I’m always scared they’ll come back with their spines broken, pages torn, and stuff like that…Just thinking about it gives me the chills. I don’t let other people borrow my books, I can’t, haha! 🙂

Great post! I have such a hard time letting friends borrow my books :/ it’s just that I’ve made some really bad experiences and got books back completely ruined and falling apart. I hate it when people aren’t careful, because they are MY books. I will treat their property with care as well…

I am the same way! My bookshelf is in one of out great rooms so everyone always stops and feels the need to pick up and book or two and then put them back half-hazardly and never in the place where they originally were.

Oh girl, I know exactly how you feel! Of course on the outside I’m a calm little kitten when people are admiring or touching my books but inside I’m thinking “you damage that book and you break my heart in the process”! It’s like when you get a new phone : when people pick it up and ask if it’s new you’re like “yes it’s new” while protectively snatching it back from their clumsy little hands. It’s the same with books am I right?!

    Great topic. 😊

Being protective of your beloved books is totally understandable. Why are so many people touching your books?! I don’t find myself in
that situation very often. I am, however, very particular about loaning out books because I’ve never gotten back a book I’ve loaned out. Ever.

It must be nice to have friends you can trust with your books, for me it’s just my mom because she knows full well how I am about my books and respects that. Plus, she’s also really careful with her books, so I never have a problem trusting her with mine.
I’ve done that too. I have a close friend who doesn’t read much but when she sees a book of mine that she likes, I always tell her that I’ll get it for her the next time I see it.

Great post! 😀 And pretty hilarious too with all those gifs! And Troye Sivan OMGGG! Let me get back into this post before I digress any further. 😛

When people come at my house they barely glance at my books and I’m grumbling *I’m surrounded by idiots* inside my head! I used to give a few people books but some scared the shit outta me by delaying the process of returning it to me. They earned death threats in return and no books from me anymore. A few broke the spine as well. So now I’m totally selfish, I don’t give my babies to anyone anymore .

      Nah… I gave a death threat directly! 😛
Yeah, I was literally in shock when I received that book, it was a totally new book but I had dnf-ed it but I planned to read it later, so a guy at my college asked and I gave it to him, when I got it back, it looked like a 10 year old book and a mess! I was heartbroken! So yeah, exactly!
