May 29th Book Haul

Hola everyone!! I am so excited to share with you the biggest book haul I’ve ever posted on this blog. Two days ago Big Bad Wolf was having a HUGE sale and it was a BOX SALE!! As in you buy a box for RM 80 (small) or RM 100 (large), then you’re free to grab as many books the box is able to hold. As long as the box can be sealed in the end you’re good to go, if not, then you just have to buy another box. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Big Bad Wolf had this sale last year and I got 99 books (3 large boxes), which is an average of 33 books per box. This year I got 62 books and 2 The Mortal Instruments Postcards all neatly arranged in exactly 2 large boxes; the first box managed to hold 34 books and 2 TMI Postcards; the second box 28 books.

I remember being so very excited the night before the sale and not being able to fall asleep until it was around 2, then waking up at 7 in the morning and heading out with my mom and brother at 7.20. At 10.30 we were at the entrance of the exhibition hall and it was teeming with people already there before us. The fair was supposed to commence at 11 but due to the heat outside (where we were standing) they let us in 10 minutes earlier; so that was 20 minutes of sun bathing but I was so psyched about the event that it could have rained all over me and I wouldn’t have budged! Inside, there was a really long queue to buy the boxes, so instead of buying the boxes first we decided to get the books then the boxes. So, every time I got around 10 books I’d stop and load them in my luggage bag; did I forget to tell you guys about the bags? Oops. Yeah, we each brought a huge luggage bag with us; we always do. ‘Cause we’re crazy like that. 😉 Oh and if you were wondering, we did get loads of people looking at us like we were out of our minds, but we paid them no heed. A bookworm’s gotta do what a bookworm’s gotta do. 😉 Moving on, luggage bags and armfuls later, the line for the box finally cleared so we sent my brother to get the boxes. Long story short, we got a total of 4 large boxes and headed home with our bodies exhausted but our hearts ultimately satisfied. It would have been less exhausting if we drove there but instead we took public transportation. But you know what they say; where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Some of the books I got like Spirit Bound and Storm Glass are double copies of what I already had before the sale but I wanted my sets to match so I bought them too. I bought Spirit Bound (paperback) because the one I had was a hardcover copy and my entire Vampire Academy consists of paperbacks; Storm Glass because I had a different cover; Time Untime because I wanted to collect a whole set of hardcovers alongside my existing paperbacks; Fall of Night to match the rest of the books; Blood Moon just because I LOVE the story, I have 3 copies of it now. 😀

So, that’s it guys, 62 books, 2 TMI Postcard Collections and RM 200 spent; average of RM 3.10 per book. Once again I am broke and have to start saving for the next sale which is going to be around end of this year, early December, I think. Can’t wait! Just thought I’d let you know that I am now stuck with some of the books still in the box due to lack of shelf space. I’ve flooded my wardrobe, my side table, everything with books and I’m still stuck. * sigh * Any books catch your eye? Spot any books you’ve read and would recommend I read ASAP? Did you get any books recently? Let me know in the comments so we can chat! Happy reading and hauling! Hugs! ❤

Wow it just shows how lacking England is for young adult books, hardly any come over from the states. I wish they did things like that over here, great haul

Your eyes, they trick you not…
I seriously hope that one day you guys get such a sale too, then we can chat about our hauls and stuff! 😀
Haha, jealousy… don’t unfriend me because the “better” side of my bookworm self came out to play 😉

They don’t? Oh, that’s bad. Really bad.
Oh God, I really hope so or I’ll die of jealousy! 😛 We NEVER have sales like these here!! Why?? WHYYY??? 😥 Okay, I really need to stop here or I think I’ll start wailing or hitting my pc or something of the sort.
The ‘better’ side of your bookworm self… you mean the one that doesn’t try to crack my ribs, right? 😉
And I want to read A Long Long Sleep but I can’t find it anywhere! 😦 And oh, please make it a point to tell me how you liked The Outsiders. I’m really curious about it…

Ohh, I’m really sorry about that. 😦 But you will get your chance soon! 🙂
Girl, I’m the “violent” one, cracking ribs and all; spare your laptop and go with wailing 😉
Yup, that’s totally what I meant and I will never live that down, will I?
That’s sad 😦 Maybe you could get the ebook instead? 🙂
          Sure thing! I am too…

Whoa this is one big book haul.. I’m so jealous.. Why don’t i ever come across sales like this?
Okay, so about the books, I really wanted to read Unremembered but I can’t find it anywhere here. 😦 I’ve read Charade and liked it. Actually I really like Nyrae Dawn’s books.. And could you tell me how Outsiders is after reading it? I’ve been hearing too much about that book…

Thank you! 🙂 And sorry about the jealousy 😉 I just know you will! Or you could move to Malaysia in the future…?
Yes, Unremembered, for some reason it’s not exactly as popular here as it is in the US. Honestly, some people here are still all hyped up over TFIOS and it sells like crazy over here, like till this day and they fail to acknowledge other good books out there. Which is insane ’cause there are so many AMAZING books out there that aren’t getting the attention they deserve and I am not blaming TFIOS for that but just… ahh! So many people here only read books that are popular and have become movies or are on their way to becoming movies! Do you have any idea how impossible it is to come across a Jennifer L. Armentrout book? I am not proud to tell you this but I have NEVER seen any of her books in bookstores here and it’s so frustrating that I love her books but don’t have physical copies of them and I NEED to have a physical copy of a book with Daemon! I realize that this has nothing to do with what you were saying but I just had let it out. Apologies about the rant!
Unremembered is supposed to be really interesting and unique and it’s sad that you can’t find it there. 😦 I sincerely feel your pain. Maybe you could try getting the ebook, instead? 🙂
I was very excited about Nyrae Dawn’s books, I remember seeing them somewhere and they really caught my eye! Can’t wait to read them, I have a feeling I’ll like them just as much as you did!
Sure I’ll let you know! Yup, me too, especially from Danielle who absolutely LOVES it! 😀

Don’t tell me.. I live in India, and people are OBSESSED with TFIOS!! And book shops here are like- Jennifer L. Armentrout who?? And I only heard about Unremembered from this one friend of mine and got the hype-vibe from Goodreads! *sigh*
And ya, I mostly saw it on Danielle’s blog too !!

Haha, it’s the exact situation here in Malaysia. Whenever I try to recommend a book to my friends, they’re like “Are you sure it’s good? I’ve never heard of it, can’t be as good as TFIOS if you ask me.”. Hello, you’ve never read it or even the synopsis, what gives you the right to say it’s not as good as TFIOS or better?! It’s so frustrating sometimes, I don’t even try recommending any books to them anymore. * sigh *
Yup, nobody I know has heard of Jennifer L. Armentrout and bookstores here don’t carry her books..
Maybe you could get the ebook of Unremembered, just to see if you like it?

Haha, I’m not sure where you live but you should start driving NOW if you want to reach by December! 😉
But seriously, if you were to come down to Malaysia let me know, we could hang out, go book shopping and all (but only if you want to) 😀
Honestly, I had never heard of Drowning Instinct until the day I got it and I was surprised to see it was written by Ilsa J. Bick; before this I only knew about her Ashes Trilogy. But I’ve checked out some reviews of Drowning Instinct and I really can’t wait to get to it, it seems like a really unique take on student/teacher relationships. Also, you said in a post that it had the most “heart wrenching ending ever” and I am really curious what that’s about!
Thank you for stopping by! 😀

Wow, I’m kinda jealous now. Why can’t the german book stores come up with something like this ? I would love to read like 90% of the books you bought (I don’t know the other 10%, but I would probably want to read them as well 😉 ).

I’m always grateful for sales like this and I hope you readers in Germany get your share of it soon! 🙂
I understand, I feel like reading every book I see too. 😉
Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading! 🙂
